Pizza Dough Method
If you don’t have much time, grab a premade pizza base at your local grocery store, or create your own homemade pizza dough following the simple steps below.
- Whisk the lukewarm water and yeast in a plastic or glass jug. Let mixture stand for five minutes.
- Add salt and flour in a large bowl. Create a hollow well in the middle and gently pour the liquid yeast mixture and oil.
- Using a spatula, or your hands, mix the dough really well until smooth. Turn out dough onto a lightly floured work surface and knead for five minutes.
- Lightly oil a bowl, and place dough in it and cover with plastic wrap. Leave in a warm place to rise for 30 minutes to an hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for another 5 minutes or until smooth.
- Sprinkle a little flour on the bench before rolling to prevent dough from sticking.
- Divide the dough into balls, and roll out bases to desired size.
TIP: We have other dough recipes if you would like to try your hand at sourdough, poolish or more.

Olive Oil Method
You can either make your own tasty pizza sauce following the simple steps below, or you can purchase a pizza sauce at your local supermarket.
- Finely slice or press garlic in small bowl
- Add olive oil, oregano and salt.
- Mix well until consistent.
- Add to pizzas.
- May keep in fridge for 3 days.
To evenly distribute your sauce, use a ladle or the back of a serving spoon to spread it onto your dough without tearing or damaging it.

Preparing Berber Pizza Pizza
Preheat your kitchen oven to approximately 500 degrees.
Roll out the dough to either slightly smaller than your pizza stone (if you have one) or on a metal tray for the kitchen oven.
Alternatively, if you have a pizza oven, roll out to be smaller than your pizza peel.
First, spread the sauce around. This pizza calls for Olive Oil. Spread the Olive Oil evenly using the back of a large spoon or the blunt side of a knife.
You should start by adding the largest ingredients, then work your way down. The last is any cheese topping, such as Mozzarella, which you should evenly cover the other toppings with, and then finally any herbs.
The toppings to include on this pizza are;
- Cheese
- Onion
I find this pizza flavorsome on its own, or why not with another pizza variety?
Baking
Put the Berber Pizza pizza on the middle shelf of the oven and wait for approximately 10 minutes.
After roughly 10 minutes, check on the pizza.
Pizza should be ready within 15 minutes. However, allow it to cook to personal taste.

About Olive Oil
Olive Oil has been used in cooking for at least 5,000 years. Since Olives are technically a fruit, that makes Olive Oil a fruit Juice. The Olives are crushed like other fruits; oranges, lemons etc to get the Oil.
One olive tree can last up to 2,000 years, and can produce 30 kilos of Olives, which makes roughly 4 litres of Oil every year. Medical studies have shown that consuming olive Oil daily helps reduce bad cholesterol (LDL) and increase the good one (HDL).

Pizza Tools
When making Berber Pizza Pizza, I always recommend that you use what you have available, without spending lots of money. My basic pizza tool list is…
Pizza Peel
Sometimes called a paddle or shovel, a pizza peel is a vital tool for those who make pizza regularly.
Wooden Rolling Pin
Many people prefer hand stretching, however every cook really should have a good wooden roller nearby too.
Mesh Sieve
You will find having a seive such a useful element for pizza making as well as all your baking. It’s great to filter all flours through a fine mesh sieve, to make sure they’re ready for use.

Cheese
There are around 2,000 different varieties of cheese around the world. It has been proven to date back to at least 8,000 years ago. It is a fantastic source of calcium, protein and phosphorus.
Cheese can be made not only with cow milk, but also with buffalo, horse, goat and even camel milk. It’s a clever gift idea too. A giant wheel of Cheddar cheese was given to Queen Victoria as a wedding gift.
