Homemade pizza dough

Pizza Dough Method

If you don’t have much time, grab a premade pizza base at your local grocery store, or hand make your own pizza dough following the simple steps below. Some shops even carry premade pizza dough in balls.

  1. Whisk the lukewarm water and yeast in a plastic or glass jug. Let the mixture stand for approx. five minutes.
  2. Add salt and flour in a large bowl. Create a hollow well in the middle and gently pour the liquid yeast mixture and oil.
  3. Using dough mixer or hands, gently mix dough until smooth. Place pizza dough on a lightly floured work surface and then knead by hand for five minutes.
  4. Lightly oil a bowl, and place mixture in and cover with plastic wrap. Leave in a warm place to rise until the dough doubles in size.
  5. Pour dough mix out onto a clean, floured surface. Now hand knead gently for another five minutes.
  6. Sprinkle a little flour on the bench before rolling to prevent dough from sticking.
  7. Divide dough mixture into equal sized balls. Hand stretch or roll out the bases to the expected size.

About Chili Peppers

Did you know that in any given day, a quarter of the world’s population eats food with Chili Peppers in it? They were being eaten 6,000 years ago, according to scientists.
The active ingredient in chili peppers is capsaicin. When it is eaten, capsaicin triggers pain receptors that normally alert the body to dangerous physical heat. That’s why sometimes it may feel like your mouth really is on fire.

Pizza Tools

When making Honey Dijon Chicken Pizza, I always recommend that you use what you have already, and avoid spending a ton of money. My recommended basic pizza tool list is…

Kitchen Scales

Do you have quality digital kitchen scales? It’s a great tool for any chef or pizza cook.

Pizza Scissors

These may seem like a weird tool to some, however other pizzaiolo’s swear by using scissors instead of a traditional pizza cutter.

Pizza Steel

A pizza steel is very similar to a pizza stone, and works the same way in a normal kitchen oven.

Honey

The color and flavor of Honey is determined by the flowers from which the nectar is gathered by the bees. Some of the most desirable honeys are produced from clover nectar by domestic honeybees.

Honey is known to be an antidepressant, anticonvulsant and have anti-anxiety benefits as well. Some studies have shown that honey helps prevent some memory disorders.

These are all true, believe me!

Pizza making FAQ

Want to know how to make fantastic pizza at home? Here are some FAQ and their answers to the most common pizza making questions.

Can I freeze pizza dough?

You sure can! Make a batch of homemade pizza dough, make it into balls, then put each ball into a zip-top freezer bag or vacuum seal bag. Write the date on the bag, and then you can freeze your pizza dough for up to 3 months.

How do I use a pizza peel?

As soon as your dough is topped, immediately slide it onto your freshly floured pizza peel on a 15-30 degree angle, then open your oven and shimmy it onto the super-hot stone or wood fired oven base, using quick back and forth motions.

Should I get a pizza stone when making homemade pizza?

If you can afford it, yes. A pizza baking stone gives you the best chance to make restaurant quality pizzas at home. A pizza stone creates the hottest-possible environment in a home oven, which results in crusts that rise perfectly around the edges and brown just right on the top and bottom. The only thing better is your own wood fired pizza oven.
