Pizza Dough Method
You can either make your own dough following the simple steps below, or you can purchase a premade pizza base at your local store.
- Whisk yeast and lukewarm water in a jug. Stand for around five minutes.
- Add flour and salt in a large bowl. Create a well in the centre of the flour. Pour in the liquid yeast mixture and the oil.
- Using a spatula, or your hands, mix the dough really well until smooth. Turn out dough onto a lightly floured work surface and knead for five minutes.
- Lightly oil a bowl, and place dough in it and cover with plastic wrap. Leave in a warm place to rise for 30 minutes to an hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for another 5 minutes or until smooth.
- Divide the dough into balls, and roll out bases to desired size.
- Sprinkle a little flour on the bench before rolling to prevent dough from sticking.
TIP: We have other dough recipes if you would like to try your hand at sourdough, poolish or more.

Tomato Pizza Sauce Method
For a truly homemade pizza experience, try using homemade tomato sauce instead of store-bought, using the easy recipe provided.
- Mix ingredients in a large bowl.
- Mix well using a whisk, or blender.
- Leave sitting for five minutes.
- Your sauce is now ready. Enjoy!
- Keep sauce in fridge or freeze for future use.
One way to save time when making pizza is to prepare the sauce the day before and refrigerate it.

Preparing Parma Ham Pizza
Turn your oven on to 450-500 degrees or more and preheat for at least 30 minutes.
Spread out the dough in a rough circle, on a floured board or surface.
If you are using a baking pan, then create the pizza in that.
Open the sauce container, and start to spread the Tomato Sauce. Spread the Tomato Sauce around the whole base, taking care to leave a gap at edges.
Add the ingredients in size order, from large to small.
Cheese gets added last.
The toppings to add to this pizza are;
- Parma Ham
- Parmigiano Reggiano
Whilst this pizza is very good by itself, yet why not make some homemade garlic bread as well?
Cooking time
Put the Parma Ham pizza in oven, and set alarm for ten minutes.
After 10 minutes, open oven and look at pizza.
The pizza should be done within roughly 15 minutes. Always cook to personal tastes.

About Parmesan
Parmesan is a translation of the Italian words, Parmigiano-Reggiano. The two terms refer to the same cheese. Often referred to as the “King of Cheeses”, Parmesan is an Italian hard, granular cheese produced from cows’ milk, which is then Aged for at least 12 months.
Parmesan was praised as far back as 1348 in the writings of famous Italian writer, Boccaccio, in his works, the Decameron. October 27 is designated the International “Parmigiano Reggiano Day” by The Consortium of Parmigiano Reggiano.

Pizza Tools
When making Parma Ham Pizza, I always recommend that you use whatever kitchen items you have. My basic pizza tools are…
Dough Containers
Dough storage containers must be of high quality and airtight.
Quality Food Containers
Leftovers need to go somewhere, and I don’t enjoy using aluminium foil or plastic wrap all the time. A couple of good air tight containers should be in every home.
Pizza Peel
Sometimes called a paddle or shovel, a pizza peel is a vital tool for those who make pizza regularly.

Ham
Ham is one of the oldest meats used by humans, and can be found in cuisines in almost every country in the world. Ham is pork from a leg cut that has been preserved by dry or wet curing, with or without smoking.
Smoked hams will lose about 25 per cent of their weight during the smoking process. Weird fact: Dwight Kalb, an artist from Chicago, once made a statue of Madonna using 180 pounds of ham.

Pizza Storage
Want to store some leftovers after your meal? Here are a few tips.
Can you freeze pizza?
You can freeze pizza for up to three months, however I’d suggest consuming it within the first few weeks, ideally.
Chill in the fridge
You can keep pizza in plastic wrap or a container for up to 3 days in the fridge.
How to reheat
There are many ways to reheat pizza. We cover seven of them in this article.
