Homemade pizza dough

Pizza Dough Method

Either make your own pizza dough following the simple steps below, or buy a premade pizza base at your local store.

  1. Whisk yeast and lukewarm water in a jug. Leave sitting for roughly five minutes.
  2. Add flour and salt in a large bowl. Create a well in the centre of the flour. Pour in the liquid yeast mixture and the oil.
  3. Using dough mixer or hands, gently mix dough until smooth. Place pizza dough on a lightly floured work surface and then knead by hand for five minutes.
  4. Lightly oil a bowl, and place mixture in and cover with plastic wrap. Leave in a warm place to rise until the dough doubles in size.
  5. Pour dough mix out onto a clean, floured surface. Now hand knead gently for another five minutes.
  6. Divide dough mixture into equal sized balls. Hand stretch or roll out the bases to the expected size.
  7. Spread some flour on kitchen bench before rolling, in order to prevent sticking.

TIP: We have other dough recipes if you would like to try your hand at sourdough, poolish or more.

Easy Chili Tomato Pizza Sauce

Hot Chili Sauce Method

You can make this tasty pizza sauce following the simple steps below, or you can purchase a pizza sauce at your local supermarket.

  1. Mix all ingredients well, in small container.
  2. Put in fridge for 2-3 hours.
  3. Use after 2-3 hours.
  4. May stay in fridge for 1 week.
  5. Can be frozen for 3 months.

Adjust the amount of garlic to suit your taste.

Preparing Spicy Lamb Pizza

Preheat your kitchen oven to approximately 500 degrees.

Roll out the dough to either slightly smaller than your pizza stone (if you have one) or on a metal tray for the kitchen oven.

Alternatively, if you have a pizza oven, roll out to be smaller than your pizza peel.

First, spread the sauce around. This pizza calls for Chili Sauce. Spread the Chili Sauce evenly using the back of a large spoon or the blunt side of a knife.

You should start by adding the largest ingredients, then work your way down. The last is any cheese topping, such as Mozzarella, which you should evenly cover the other toppings with, and then finally any herbs.

The toppings to include on this pizza are;

  • Lamb
  • Goat’s Cheese
  • Capsicum
  • Garlic

This pizza is tasty by itself, yet why not enjoy it with a simple side dish?

Cooking

Put the Spicy Lamb pizza on the middle shelf in oven, and wait ten minutes.

After approximately 10 minutes, open oven door and check on pizza.

The pizza should be done within roughly 15 minutes. Always cook to personal tastes.

About Goat’s Cheese

Goat’s Cheese is often called by its French name, Chèvre, which means goat. The distinctive character of Goat’s Cheese comes from capric acid, a flavourful fatty acid that promotes good intestinal bacteria in humans.
Because of its low lactose content, Goat’s Cheese is a fantastic choice of cheese for people with lactose intolerance.

Pizza making FAQ

Want to know how to make fantastic pizza at home? Here are some helpful answers to the most frequently asked questions.

Why is my dough not stretching?

Pizza dough won’t stretch much until it has rested long enough to use. If your dough is resisting your stretching attempts, you need to let your dough rest at room temperature for at least another half hour or so.

How come some pizza dough recipes include sugar and others do not?

Some people use sugar to give the yeast a helping hand growing at the start. A dough made without added sugar and risen slowly will often produce a beautiful brown crust. However, many people want pizza dough to be ready faster, then they suggest added sugar, which helps the yeast to grow and gives some browning to the crust.

How long do I bake my pizza?

The pizza baking times depend on the oven you are using. An average kitchen oven set to 500F should cook a pizza well in 12 to 15 minutes. A wood-fired oven hotter than 750F will cook a pizza in 2-3 minutes.
