Pizza Dough Method
If you don’t have much time, grab a premade pizza base at your local grocery store, or create your own homemade pizza dough following the simple steps below.
- Whisk the lukewarm water and yeast in a plastic or glass jug. Let the mixture stand for approx. five minutes.
- Add the salt and flour in a large bowl. Create a hollow centre in the flour. Slowly pour the liquid yeast mixture and oil.
- Using your hands or a mixer, mix the dough until smooth. Pour dough on a lightly floured work surface and then knead by hand for five minutes.
- Place dough into lightly oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Sit in a warm place for roughly 30 minutes to an hour, to rise until it doubles in size.
- Fold the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead gently by hand for around five minutes or until smooth.
- Divide the dough roughly into equal amounts. Roll out pizza bases for the desired size.
- Spread some flour on kitchen bench before rolling, in order to prevent sticking.
TIP: We have other dough recipes if you would like to try your hand at sourdough, poolish or more.

Tomato Pizza Sauce Method
You can make this delicious pizza sauce following the simple steps below, or you can purchase a pizza sauce at your local store.
- Blend all sauce ingredients in a large bowl.
- Ensure all ingredients are mixed together well.
- Keep mixture sitting for five minutes.
- Your sauce is now ready to add to your pizza bases.
- Sauce will last up to 3 days in fridge.
Give your pizza sauce some extra kick by adding a touch of chilli or sweet chilli sauce.

Preparing Sunday Roast Pizza
Preheat your oven to roughly 500 degrees.
Roll out the dough to either slightly smaller than your pizza stone or tray.
Alternatively, if you have a pizza peel, roll out to be smaller than that.
You start by spreading the sauce around. This pizza calls for Sweet Potato. Spread the Sweet Potato evenly using the back of a large spoon or ladle.
Then start adding the largest ingredients, then work your way down. The last is any cheese topping, such as Mozzarella, which you should evenly cover the other toppings with, and then finally any herbs.
Toppings to put on this pizza are;
- Feta
- Rosemary
- Roast Lamb
- Caramelized Onion
- Basil
- Rosemary
This pizza is good by itself, yet why not enjoy it with a fresh salad?
Baking
Put the Sunday Roast pizza on the middle shelf of the oven and wait for approximately 10 minutes.
In 10 minutes, open oven door and check.
The pizza should take roughly 15 minutes to cook, adjust time to cook to personal taste.

About Feta
Popular for its salty, tangy taste, Feta ranges from very soft to semi-hard in texture. Feta was invented by the Greeks, however modern Feta can be found being made all over the globe.
Feta gets its taste from being salted through immersion in salty water, maturing for a minimum of two months. Blocks of Feta are often stored and sold still in the brine.

Pizza Tools
When making Sunday Roast Pizza, I always recommend that you use whatever kitchen items you have. My basic pizza tools are…
Pizza Peel
A pizza peel aka paddle is a crucial tool for those who are making pizza often.
Pizza Cutter
The one kitchen tool every adult should have in their drawer. See our article on how to cut pizza for the various cutting tools.
Rolling Pin
Yes, I know, many people swear by hand stretching, however there’s times in all our lives where we need a good wooden roller.

Rosemary
Rosemary has been used for cooking since at least 500 BC, if not before. An ancient legend says that the Virgin Mary placed her blue cloak over a white flowered rosemary bush while she was resting, and the flowers turned blue. The shrub was then named the “Rose of Mary”.
In Greek mythology, it is said that Rosemary was draped around the Greek goddess Aphrodite when she rose out of the sea. As a medicinal herb, it has long been suggested that it helps strengthen your memory and the brain overall.

Pizza making FAQ
Want to make great pizza at home? Here are some expert answers to some of the most Frequently asked questions.
Can I use bread dough for making pizza?
Sadly no. Bread dough doesn’t have the same consistency and needs that a pizza dough has. If you mean bread flour, yes, many bread flours are fine enough to work for pizza, however I always recommend )) flour instead, which is created for pizza dough making.
What is the order of ingredients when topping a pizza?
The order of ingredients when topping a pizza is typically the pizza sauce, the large ingredients (meat, seafood, vegetables, etc), the smaller ingredients, cheese topping then herbs. If you are using fresh herbs, you may wish to bake the oven then sprinkle them on afterwards, to avoid them browning.
When do I add ice cream on a dessert pizza?
With ingredients such as ice cream, cream and even fruits, it is normally best to cook the pizza with the harder toppings, and then add these toppings after baking, so they don’t burn or melt everywhere in the oven.
